2.1.29. Look-ahead


The look-ahead parameter controls how much of the active loudness window Loudness Leveler uses for predictive leveling. This control is expressed as a percentage of the current window rather than as an explicit millisecond budget.

Larger values give the leveler more time to react before a loudness change reaches the output. The effective latency is deduced from the selected timing mode.

Look-ahead is disabled by low-latency (LL) timing modes and whenever look-ahead mode is set to OFF.
